Richard B. Lancaster
November 17, 1922 To August 26, 2008
Mr. Richard B. Lancaster, 85, of Romulus passed away on August 26 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on November 17,1922 in Hickman Kentucky, a son of Earle and Grace Lancaster. On June 23, 1951 he was married to Doris Brimner in Highland Park moving to the Romulus area in 1955.
Mr. Lancaster was a lifetime member of the Romulus VFW Post 9568. He was a proud WW II army veteran. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and enjoyed heartfelt conversations with them. Richard took great pride in keeping his house and lawn looking beautiful and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and crafts. Prior to his retirement in 1983 he had been employed at Burroughs Corporation in Inventory Control.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Doris, adored father of Jim (Peggy) Lancaster, Randal (Bonnie) Lancaster, Mark (LeAnn) Lancaster and Van Lancaster. Cherished grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 3. Loving brother of Larry (Dorothy) Lancaster, Jeralene Allen, Wanda Hosey and Patricia (Richard) Blackman. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Lancaster’s name are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or Romulus VFW Post 9568.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Lancaster will be held on Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 P.M. at the VFW Post 9568, 39270 W. Huron River Dr. in Romulus. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Higgerson & Neal Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Belleville (734) 697-9400
