I.B. McWhirter, 83, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his home in Canton Twp., MI  He was born July 3, 1923, in Madison County, Alabama.  He was a former resident of Detroit, MI. 

Mr. McWhirter was a retired truck driver and worked for many years as a Teamster.  He enjoyed his retirement years.  He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. 

Surviving are daughters Sonja Ellis, of California, Sandra Chester (Jim), of Shelby Twp. , Constance Frank (Steve), of Harrison Twp. Samantha Barnes , of Alabama (Paul) Sons, Jessie, Alabama Richard (Barbara), of Ypsilanti, Michael (Diane); of Madison Heights,  29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter Amanda Golden formerly of Alabama.

There will be a graveside ceremony at Hillside Cemetery, Belleville, MI at 1:00pm Wednesday May 16th 2007
