Mary Evelyn Stokes

July 9, 1920 To December 9, 2011

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Stokes passed away Friday,

December 9, 2011 at Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor.

 She was born July 9, 1920 in

Pocahontas, Arkansas a daughter of

Robert Horace and Shirley (Foster) Smith.

On August 8, 1938 she was married to

William Fay Stokes in Kennett, Missouri

 moving to Willis from Dearborn in 2001.

 Mr. Stokes preceded her in death on June 12, 2005.

Mrs. Stokes was a member of the

North Ridge Church of Plymouth.

 She enjoyed her church and lived its

teachings with her family.

Mrs. Stokes didn’t know the word no.

She never had an unkind word for anyone.

She was a very good cook and

 enjoyed entertaining her family.

Prior to her retirement in 1976 she had been

 employed by Ford Motor Company as an

assembly worker for many years.

 Mrs. Stokes was the loving mother of

 Billy R. (Lorraine) Stokes.

Dear grandmother of Raymond Stokes

 and Michelle (Triston Dunnett) Stokes.

Fond great grandmother of Samantha Stokes,

Michael Stokes and Craig Stokes.

Sister of Larry Smith and Donald Smith.

 Preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the

 Higgerson and Neal Funeral Home,

209 Main St., Belleville (734-697-9400).

 Visitation will be on Monday, December 12, 2011

 from 2 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

 Burial will follow the funeral services at

Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Michigan.

 The family has suggested memorial contributions

to the American Lung Association of Michigan.
